Pandemic humor

. My state has a vaccination rate of 80% for eligible citizens for which I am quite grateful. I do however, relate to good ole Mona a little more than I did in the past. . . Global plagues are Hell on the waistline. . . And it won’t be that far from the truth. […]

Sky Ink

Some say we’re all star dust and I get it now, how we’re set by the exquisite geometry of constellations Flowers built around the houses of exacting pentagons or an eagle’s flight feathers their sprayed precision, the acute explosion of wattle blossom tendrils, or my own hand, its splayed fingers and the triangles between. Water’s […]

Impersonal

It felt right. To not need A person. Our own person. Both the rescuer And the rescuee. One person. Us. Same person? Both quit. No person. It feels wrong. ©Aaysid “It is one thing to lose people you love. It is another to lose yourself. That is a greater loss.”Donna Goddard, Waldmeer

Poem: Wisdom Gleaned (09/10/21) – 28/11/21

Author’s note: Sometimes I like to look back at my drafts and see what was on my mind months prior, and how I constructed these realities into rhymes and words to soothe myself, express anger, frustration, upsets, or some such. This piece I feel still has some of these truths ringing in my current reality. Hence, I thought I would share it with you here today.

Mole

You say I am a mole when I write burrowing down to my tunnel with the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on the door; but I say I know no other way that when I’m done I emerge into the light tiny eyes blinking pic courtesy of Wikimedia

the presence of love

loving is hard work, relating all we’ve known, truth, and deep pain, resonatesthe same…and, sometimes it does burn, scalding from within,as we look up, transfixed, by the night sky, cool, placid, not dim we wonder what’s hidden in those galaxies, far away, as we try, offering solace to our hearts, giving those we loveanother start, to make their […]

Absurdities #11

By Eilene Lyon As we motored home after test-driving potential candidates for our new vehicle, we passed a political sign next to the highway. It is located on private property in a very red corner of New Mexico. It read: God, Family, Second Amendment, Constitution, Trump. I pondered those in this country who believe the […]
